How Are the Days Between Two Dates Counted?
The Standard Difference measures the number of calendar days that have elapsed from the start date to the end date. The starting date is not counted as a completed day.
For example, the standard difference between January 1 and January 2 is one day. If both selected dates are identical, the standard difference is zero days.
The Include Both Dates option adds the start date and the end date to the count. Therefore, January 1 to January 2 produces an inclusive result of two days.
The Exclude Both Dates option removes both boundary dates from the result. If there are no complete dates between the selected dates, the result will be zero.
The calculator uses calendar dates rather than clock time, so daylight-saving time changes do not affect the result. Leap years and months with different lengths are handled automatically.
