How to Use the Working Days Calculator

How Are Working Days Calculated?
Working days are counted dates left after removing the selected weekends and valid holidays that fall on working days. The breakdown is Counted Dates = Total Working Days + Weekend Days + Excluded Holidays. Excluded Holidays therefore does not count every holiday you entered.
The calculator checks every calendar date in the selected range. Dates matching your chosen weekend schedule are excluded from the working-day total.
You can choose to include both boundary dates, exclude the start date, exclude the end date or exclude both dates.
Optional holidays are excluded only when they fall on a normal working day. A holiday that already falls on a weekend is counted as a weekend day and is not deducted twice.
The calculation uses Gregorian calendar dates, so daylight-saving changes do not affect it. Public holidays are not loaded automatically; enter the actual dates observed by the relevant organization.
Working-Day Examples
June 1 to June 7, 2026, with Include Both Dates, Saturday and Sunday, and no holidays, gives 5 working days. The breakdown is 7 counted dates, 2 weekend days and 0 excluded holidays.
Keep that range and enter 2026-06-03, 2026-06-06, 2026-06-03. The result is 4 working days, 7 counted dates, 2 weekend days and 1 excluded holiday. June 3 is deducted once despite the duplicate entry; June 6 is already Saturday and is not deducted twice.
For that range with no holidays, Exclude Both Dates counts June 2 through June 6: 5 counted dates, 1 weekend day and 4 working days. With Include Both Dates and Sunday Only instead, there are 6 working days.
Holiday and Schedule Limits
Use YYYY-MM-DD dates separated by commas or new lines. Duplicate holidays count once; holidays outside the counted interval have no effect. Invalid input such as 2026-02-30 produces an error that must be corrected.
The weekend schedule repeats every week. You cannot make one particular weekend date a working day, count half-days or convert days to paid hours. A weekend holiday does not automatically create a Monday holiday; enter the observed date yourself.
This version supports years 0100 to 9999 and a start-to-end difference of at most 100,000 calendar days. The start date must not exceed the end date. Your organization's own calendar remains the reference for unusual closures.

What happens when a holiday falls on a weekend?
A holiday that falls on a selected weekend day is counted only as a weekend day. It is not excluded twice from the working-day result.
Can I calculate working days for different countries?
Yes. Select the appropriate weekend schedule and manually enter the public holidays observed in the relevant country or region.
Why is the result different from my office calendar?
Your office may observe different holidays, closures, half-days or special working weekends. Enter observed closures and choose the normal weekend schedule. The tool cannot override a single weekend date as working or count a half-day; those cases require a separate adjustment.
